Very cool! Kind of has the make believe look of a movie set. I love all the interesting detail.

frankly I like the 2nd crop better. in that crop I don't feel the need to crop more off the bottom.

The tree canopy in the second image really makes it feel more balanced from top to bottom. Cool shot.

    Most definitely the second one.
Love the tones contrast and detail. Really an excellent photo.

I find the second one more pleasing as well, but I cannot say why. I do find the trees a bit overwhelming, but the first one looks chopped off when I compare it to the second.
I am not in favor of cropping the bottom on either of them, because I think the ground curves and the bench curves work very well and the ground pattern draws your attention in.

I guess I must be the odd ball. I like #1 crop better. While #2 is very pleaseing and does allow my eye to travel the image more easily, #1 has a focal quality that seems to intensify the details of the image. I like the sweep of the brick into the the architechture beyond. The reader seems almost incidental to the whole. I like this shot very much.
