Macro 55mm for concert photography?

I do a lot of concert photography and am looking to try some new lenses. I have a Canon 5D and normally shoot with a 24/70 2.8, 70/200IS 2.8 and a 15mm fisheye.

I'm thinking about trying the Canon macro 55mm 2.5 at a small club tonight. Have any of you used this lens for low light concert situations?

Thanks in advance!

Assume you mean the 50mm macro lens and you want to use it for "normal" photography ?

Should be a nice sharp lens but don't know if it will be fast enough for low light shots.

I have used my Tamron 90mm macro for landscapes. I do not see why it would not work. Now I am going to try using it for some evening shots, and see if it works.

I tried it for a portion of a song, but ended up switching to my 24/70 2.8. I decided to use the lens the following day on some flower photos instead. ;)

What was the limiting factor? The focal length or the aperture ?
