I need better light!
OK I know I will have to reshoot this, but is it worth pursuing?
I will have a small window to reshoot tomorrow.

Hahaha! Great idea! I think you need to add depth to the room with windows in the BG - like the original.

Thank you guys--I reshot and was still unhappy with this and then I went out of town. I have been able to reshoot something similar while out of town a and on camera I am happy with it. I will hopefully be able to download it and work on the image some tomorrow and post it. Thanks for your input--I hope the final image works also! :).

This is great - agree about the windows &/or stuff on the table adding a lot to the shot, but even without it, the idea & the setup really works for me! Hilarious!

It's a fun idea Liz, adding to the other comments, perhaps a darker BG too, maybe black?

Thank you all for the input.
I have to say even on reshoot, I reshot before much of the advice, I still wasn't happy with the shot. I agree that the table needed food and I couldn't for the life of me find something appropriate, I also was not happy with the background. Just wasn't feeling the toys. Then I ran out of time with no chance to reshoot the scene.

I went out of town for an early Christmas with some family and after a few martinis etc. everyone was feeling good and so I broached the subject of this contest and my wish to reshoot with people. They all were so excited about it and it made for a very very fun and unforgettable night and family portrait. My entry is in, no chance of reshooting as I'm now back home, but I am thrilled with it :D.

    Thank you Whatshesaw and SeascapeSiloveyou.gif.

SimpsonBrothers--I was looking at the challenge thread on my phone and when I saw your title, I about fell out of my chair. Then I had to wait forever for your photo to upload and then I said a curse word! lol.

I was so glad that I did not go through with my toystory version after I saw yours. I was desperately trying to find some cups in my daughters toys, but they were huge, bigger than the toys lol.

Also I just read in your other post the difficulty with the toys falling--trust me, many an expletive flew out of my mouth trying to shoot my toystory version.

The human version was a whole lot more fun to shoot and well if they fell out of their chair, they could pick themselves right up:)

btw--I did look for an ironman, thought he had one--I found the rock guy from the fantastic four instead and everytime I set him up, he was so heavy he would knock the table over lol.

I looked and wondered "what videographer" lol--don't know what he is, just know he's from starwars, I think and I'm pretty sure that's an invisibility ray gun, or just a gun, or just a super laser gun.

The characters cracked me up--but the setting was blah!

Liz - just curious - how many takes did you need for that entry? I'd imagine it would be hard to get that many people to cooperate for a long time. They sure looked like they were having a good time!

    26 I just counted them.
However at least half were purposely taken as outtakes. While people were outright laughing or talking or laughing again rolleyes1.gif. I knew some might be real keepers as outtakes.

So i'll say around 13 or so were taken to try and get a real shot.
I knew I had a small window with the kids--my son in particular started crying because he wanted to play wii and my daughter started doing "the face" lol--which actually wound up working. Then halfway through the adults started arguing, not in a bad way, but pretty much in the way things always are which is why I wanted the outtakes.

The funniest thing was I didn't have my tripod and it's low light and I had my 25mm f2.8 on my e620 and we stacked the christmas presents on top of each other so I could have a sort of stable table for my camera. I'm telling you, I laughed so hard during this shoot, plus we were all feeling pretty good. If nothing else, it will always be remembered and talked about.

Ha - you did good for only 26!

One of the ones I did once that made the top 5 - I only got 5 takes. That's all my son would give and he was done. Others that I did and took 300 shots didn't even make the top 10 (when we had a top 10). You just never know! mwink.gif

It's so well done Liz. From the setup to the processing. It has such a great texture. Definitely a favorite.
