Nice shot. It shows enough of the workshop to get an idea of what he gets involved in to do his work.

Love it, Richard. It leaves me wanting more - a study of the workshop, his hands, the instruments, the tools.

I Agree with you Sara. This image wants a complete documentation of a luthiers work, specially if the lighting effect leans on the warm side with strong contrast. Nice one, Richard. thumb.gifthumbthumb.gif

Great shot which made me smile.

I have a friend who also is a luthier, so I can appreciate the craftsmanship these guys crank out.

No one is going to believe this - least of all Sarah - but I was on my way down the page to make a comment suggesting that Richard return to the workshop and spend some time there, focusing on the luthier and the crafting of a guitar. Great minds, blah blah blah.:D

Thanks a lot, guys. I have a project in mind that involves the luthier and other craftsmen in my neighborhood as well. Not sure how far I'm going to get with it, but stay tuned. thumb.gif

I like the colors, but what caught my attention was the viewpoint of the two guitars from your well-selected shooting angle. Nice "environmental" portrait.

Wow, this is awesome. I was an avid woodworker (before photography took over my free time), and the art of luthiery always fascinated me. Those folks are true artisans. Great job on the color balance in what had to be challenging lighting. I do want to see more!!

Nice Richard ... have you thought of going back to get more images ... (lol) ... in regards to your project, remember that persistence will be your best ally. (PS- I'd crop a bit of the top, the light fixture is a bit distracting and doesn't enhance or add anything to the shot.)

Thanks for the comments, rainbow, Gary and Joel. I have been playing guitar since I was a teenager and I also did leathercraft for a number of years. I actually had a fantasy of retiring in Spain and apprenticing myself to a luthier, but when the time came I took up photography instead. So the old craftsmen here just fascinate me. I hope to do more in the future.
