I love old gates! And the colors in that first one are lovely. Good eye, Tom!
Hi Lauren,
As a gate lover, you'd be in heaven in St.Augustine. The historic district has more courtyards and gates than you can imagine. Everything is so compressed, though, it's sometimes difficult to get the shot you really want. The streets are so narrow ( always one-way or walk-only ) you can't get the perspective you're after.
Take care,
Tom
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.
Really like #1, Beautiful Comp going on here , Love the Lines and appreciate the straight Verticals! Very Colorful, just a really nice shot of season and structure!

Hey Tom,
Thanks for the kind words. This is one of my favorite gates in the town.

Another wonderful Florida image, I'll bet they're a little chilly
this last week or so.
I just can't get over how so very realistic all of your
landscape shots are, the colors and details are so
accurate and crisp.
Looks like a beautiful place to get in the Christmas Season.
Yo Craig,
Chilly for sure....several nights in a row below freezing.
As you know, the colors and details result from what I call " Tokina Magic ".
St. Augustine has a yearly ritual called the " Night of Lights ". From just after Thanksgiving to January 2, most of the historic area is all aglow at night from the light of approximately 1 and 1/2 million small white lights. They're strung from buildings, fences, tress....anything they can hang them on, even boats in the harbor. It's surreal to walk through the old town at night.
Take care my friend,
Tom

I am also a "gate and doorway" fan. I like the first one because the gate itself seems more stylish and is shown in context with its environment. I've been to many places in Florida but never St. Augustine. It looks like a neat town.
I like them both, but the second one shows what I call the 'tears of time'.
Hi Mary,
" tears of time ". I like that phrase. It's very appropriate in this case. Much of the stone structure in this particular courtyard wall is over 300 years old. The wooden gate is certainly not that old but it does look like it's giving the stone a real run for the money.

Hi Werner,
I hope the next time you get to Florida you can make it to St.Augustine. The photo ops are endless. Thanks for looking in.

Tom, I would like to make St Augustine one day--I'm sure it is filled with photo ops, not to mention just lots of interesting things to see in the oldest city.

Hey Lauren,
I, too, hope you can make it to St. Augustine one day. It's truly a fascinating place and a photographers heaven. I'm down there a lot. Darlene is a native of the city....in fact she's a descendant of one of the 9 founding families that first settled there centuries ago.
Take care,
Tom
