    Welcome to DGrin! clap.gif

If I may comment: #1 is very nice. You captured a good expression from your dog and you did good using a different angle to show proportion. thumb.gif For #2 the subject is interesting but the background is brighter than the flower and it is fighting for attention. You can mimic Tom's idea here of using black cloth or a different colored background to isolate your subject better. Seems like you fired your flash on this shot. Use a higher shutter speed (to darken the background) and then compensate using flash on the subject. You could probably try to use a different angle to make the flower "look forward" to the camera rather than "looking away" from it. #3 is also nice. Just kindly move it just a little bit to the left (rule of thirds) to make it look "better". If you will angle your camera towards the sky you can use the blue color of the sky as a better background color to make the locusts and the stalk stand out more on your image. Great job on your first images!

Stick around. There are a lot of very nice guys and gals here who can really help you improve your photography skills (I can attest to that). Just be willing to absorb their constructive criticisms and compliments so you can further develop your "photographic eye". Good job! thumb.gifthumbthumb.gif
Sitting quietly, doing nothing. Spring comes and the grass grows by itself.
