Looks like you have pretty good lighting there. These shots are really nice. I really like #3 full player in frame, arm extended and ball - Wow!

The lighting isn't bad though not great either.
Just need to shoot high iso and large f stops and everything is good up close and then lighten in post processing and you are good to go.
You just lose depth of field which some people don't like.
I really like the perspective. How far out can you get useable pictures? 15 ft?
For me a 50 is really the same as a 65mm and yes 15-18 feet would be the range. Any thing beyond that because of light falloff and noise I think is a waste of time. IMO anyway. I have shot with an 85mm though I like to see the feet of at least the guy/gal with the ball so I find myself liking the 50.
