"Sloppy borders" - negative carrier frames

I absolutely love the look of Kubota's "Sloppy Borders", but at $150 it's not something I can afford right now. I've been searching around for some free/less spendy alternatives, but so far haven't come up with any terribly good links.

Anybody have any good sources for brushes/actions/tutorials that can achieve this effect? I've found a few to mimic polaroids, or actually include film-types in the "negative carrier", but I'm really just looking for the stroke/burned edges effects.
