You would have to do this on your own before you upload. Smugmug doesn't modify your original.
Thanks. I figured as much which is why I said "maybe this is a feature request". Another way to look at it would be if we had a Smugmug picture size that was equal to the original size, but not actually the original photo.

Yal, agreed, hide your request there so it's basically hidden from all discussion
from those on Dgrin. Only a very few even know about it and the way it's
set up it's almost impossible to find anything. Plus there is very little
Smugmug response, almost none in the comments.

Allen, I hate that everything on the feature request forum is out of range of any meaningful discussion too. I've complained about the same thing too.
But that aside, the fact is that Smugmug does not collect feature requests here on dgrin. There's nobody systematically monitoring the forums and making sure they collect and record all meaningful feature requests here. They use to have the feature request forum, but they shut that down.
Instead, they collect, catalog and monitor them on uservoice. So, if you want to be counted, that's where it has to get filed. I don't like the way it works, but if people want to play the game and have their request counted, that's where the game is played.

We need that forum back. Each threads first post would point to one
userVoice feature request to allow visibility and discussion. No userVoice
feature request link in first post and the thread's deleted.
Also add link back to Dgrin discussion thread in userVoice.

Good question, Andy. Here's are two examples of why I want it.
1) So that I can allow folks to download my originals, but include the watermarks.
2) I sometimes post things like giant moons shots where I want to display the full size, 100% crop, and let folks pan around that in their browser. So I don't want Smuggie resizing my shot smaller, but I still want the shot watermarked.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a Printmark helps here.
Interesting that link redirects to the Original size image, presumably because it's smart and realizes that the original size. So then I tried 1178x1178 which would downsize it by one pixel which would be fine.
That one doesn't redirect to the original, but it doesn't display any image either. Am I doing something wrong? Note that it doesn't work any differently if I leave off the "-2" revision number at the end of the file name.

First off, make sure that access to originals is enabled in the gallery which allows arbitrarily large size access. Then, make sure that external linking is enabled. Beyond that, I don't know why the custom size stuff isn't working on your images. It works on mine. Here's an example of mine:

That's weird. It works on your image but not on mine. Yes, I have Original size enabled. If you click on my link above, you should be able to see it. And linking is enabled as well.

I guess you should file a support request with one of those custom size links included and ask why it doesn't work. According to their help page, it's supposed to work.

Is there a way to create a custom picture size?

FYI, feature requests get more attention by Smugmug over here: http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug.

I consider this one an absolute major request effecting just about everyone and there has been no Smugmug response.

What is your objective? How about a printmark?

At first blush, that seems like it would work, John. But, I can't get it to work. Here's an example. I have this image which I would like to display with my watermark. http://desertilluminations.com/Sky/Astrophotography/IMG2052/1096436125_rvPnK-O.jpg
The image is 1179x1179. Viewed at X2 size, Smuggie resizes it to 960x960, which I don't want. So here's my first try to use a custom size.
