New Kind of Sports Poster (for me) - C&C wanted

Next year a goal of mine is to incorporate more Repoussé 3D text into my poster designs via Photoshop CS5 Extended. The 2010 Coaches Poster was my first design to use 3D text.

I found this tutorial and wanted to see if I could replicate the design. I do this to hone my photoshop skills and maybe learn some new techniques. Here is what my version looks like.




After giving it some thought I came up with my own design using the Repoussé 3D text technique from the tutorial. Let me know what you guys think.

Cool idea. It looks like the players foot is cut off a bit, maybe there was grass or mud in the photo that had to get cut off? I wonder if you could get a cool look and have a more forgiving process for things like that by doing the numbers as earth, grass on top and dirt sides? Like a number cut out of the field.
