Here are some shots this year of the Redish Egret. Last year we seen one and very limited to getting a bunch of images. How ever this year we Don and I had a great time with these birds this year and tons of shots, more of these birds to come.

In these images, the Egret is in fact hunting for fish, they put their wings up and do a sort of a dance in the water when they are hunting, it's really neat to watch them do this.

    Very nice captures, Dennis.:D

Always nice to see birds acting as if you were not there. It gives one a sense of belonging instead of intruding.

BTW...the JC egret in the first shot for me!

One of the funniest birds to watch, great shots.

I watched what I thought was a Snowy or Great acting out the same type dance at Laguna Atascosa NWR
back in Jan. and finally figured out it was actually a white morph Reddish.

Dennis, as usual I can not pick a favorite out of these they are all stunning. I don't get this species at all so it is soooo nice to see them and captured so beautifully as well. Thanks.

Thanks Ric, I like your comments about belonging instead of intruding so true. As for the first image, that is the one a like best as well to.

Thanks Allen, and I agree with you fully about watching these birds, it is funny and yet graceful to see them do this. Nice to see a white morph and I have yet to see one but that is cool that you did. Thanks again.

Thanks Deb, glad that you enjoyed these images. Alberta and Toronto don't get these birds either and to bad, but down in Florida is where these were taken in Oct. I have a few more of these birds to post but wanted to show them dancing first and will post more later on.

    Thanks again.

I've never seen a Redish Egreg either, and love that first photo, with the bird caught totally out of the water. I love the lighting in that shot--such a great view of the bird's face, and the intensity in its eyes. Also the contrast, with the near wing looking darker, makes it a striking shot. Terrific! Best, Pam

Hello Pam, Oh once you see them the camera just keeps shooting, they are a neat bird to see and watch. I agree about the first photo as the best in this series just for the fact that the birds feet are out of the water as Ric mentioned like walking on water. Thank you Pam for the compliments and the kind words on this series and glad that you enjoyed these images.

We have so many white Egrets around here, but I've never seen a Reddish. These shots are just plain fun to look at--I love #1 for all the reasons mentioned above. And #2 is terrific because of the detail in the neck feathers. Great stuff!

Hi Lauren, well even they are fun to photograph. Thanks for the comments and happy that you liked these images and the second image and agree that one has some nice details in the feathers in the neck.
