I am always fascinated by human emotions. While waiting for my wife to finish the groceries I talked to the greeters at the local Walmart if I can take some snapshot of them. They told me that it's not allowed and I have to ask permisssion to the manager in shift about it. Thinking that there is no harm in trying I approach the manager and told him that I am an amateur photographer studying "people at work". He told me that it is really not allowed. Being a persistent guy (me), I still tried to convince him that this is purely for photographic study and nothing more. After some verbal negotiation he told me that if the guys agree with me taking their pictures then he'll allow it but only for this time alone. With that approval I waited for that moment that both of them are smiling and before somebody blocked my shot I clicked the shutter and this is what I captured.

Nice shot - They're probably worried that they'll show up on this website

That's a very interesting website. Unfortunately I don't do that kind of stuff. If ever I would photograph any person for my study I'd see to it that I would not offend them so as to lose their dignity. That is just my opinion. :D

Love the processing and mood of the shot. Your persistence in getting it is admirable.

Have you considered giving them each a print?

I echo all of Kdog remarks ... I find the noise distracting.

Definitely. I'm giving it to them this Tuesday in a picture frame so they would appreciate it more. thumb.gif

Thanks, Gary. I'll do another pp to the image and see if I would like the one with a lesser grain into it. Thanks.

I like the contrast and bazillion lines in the carts/walls etc. Looks like you could have shot that just down the street from Anywhere USA.

    Noise? no bueno
    Grain? bueno!

I've had prints made of shots with specific people if I felt relatively confident I would be able to find them again. It's a great thing to do. Nice shot and persistence.

They look cute and cheerful. I'd be sad to learn that at that age they are asked to rmeain standing.

Yeah, you're right on that. I wish I could take some more images of them to make a picture story. I'll try to talk to the manager again. Probably once he see this picture he'll realize that It'd be interesting for others to know the typical "a day in the life" story of a door greeter at Walmart. I really respect these guys. If others think that their job is easy they'd better think twice.
