I just learned that Emoblitz will be launching a dual TTL flash in March 2011. The "wink" light will be able to do TTL as well. Could be very interesting...

Nice thing to have at times. Was one of the reasons I bought the Metz that I did (50MZ5) back several years ago. Helpful when bouncing but shooting ppl at the same time to get some highlight in their eyes.

Back in the early 80's I owned an Achiever "Kangaroo" Flash...looked just like this.....that was Long before Metz had them.....
they worked decently....mine even had a little up and down movement so light could be placed where needed

    Nice idea but...
This is a nice idea, probably copied from the Metz or earlier strobes.

I do quite well using a standard hotshoe flash (I use the 420EX and 550EX) along with a Joe Demb Flash Diffuser Pro www.dembflashproducts.com

The 550EX/420EX flashes and Flash Diffuser Pro can be either used on the hotshoe of the camera or on a bracket.

The FlipIt portion of the Flash Diffuser Pro can be adjusted for use in many venues and can even be used outdoors at night or in places that have tall or dark ceilings.

I have a Demb too.. but sometimes, the dual lights work a little better... depending on the situation. Demb you can't point the main light straight behind you and still get a decent specular highlight... Different equipment for different situations. Yeah, not useful a TON, but sometimes. :D
