What are you getting for Christmas

I am a bit excited and had to let it out. Since most here would know what I am talking about I put it here. You can move it Harry if it needs it.
Most of my shooting is in pursuit of wildlife. Mostly birds. Birds in flight are a favorite.
My wife has been bugging me for some ideas for Xmas gifts so I sent her some links for some gimbal heads. Manfrotto 393 and the Induro GBH1 were closet to the budget this year.
She took my emails I sent her with the equipment listed to the local camera shop. They did not carry these particular items. But they did have a customer that had some used equipment for sale and put us in contact with him.
With budgets being tight my wife brought together all my family and went in and bought me a Wimberly WH 200 on a Giottos 9721 Aluminum Pro tripod, with 2 wimberly lens plates. Everything is so lightly used it all looks brand new. All at a price that is well below the price of the head alone.

Bad news is she wont let me play with it until after Christmas.
Feeling like the kid that has peeked at his presents, because I had to approve and make sure it was something that I could use and was in proper working order.
I am chomping at the bit to get out and chase some birds now. Well I am always wanting to do that, just a bit more now that I have a new tool to work with.
Merry Christmas to ALL

Sounds a darned (oops) sight better than socks ... altho' spare pairs of said items with current weather here'd be useful atm.
Good start to the new year, eh :)

No idea, here btw - a GH'd be nice too - especially if its horizontal axis was height adjustable.

    Good shooting.

Well I think I could have worn her down but I was still in shock at what was acquired.

That's a great gift for the holidays.

My wife couldn't get me any photo gear because I buy what I need as soon as it comes out. She was pretty good when I recently bought a used 200-400 lens.

Linda bought me the deluxe version of Springsteen's "The Promise" and got me me a new smoker (BBQ is my other passion) for the holidays.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
