Santacon is an annual event now held in 181 locations worldwide. It looks and sounds better than it is, as the net result (and intent) is to turn the city into one large singles bar. Mostly young singles cruise from bar to bar meeting each other and exchanging contact information. Disappointingly, there is no greater purpose attached, such as fund raising for worthy causes.

It receives no media attention in the Bay Area, even though the first was held in San Francisco in 1994. My guess is that they do not want to advertise the nature of the event.

Previous posts of "Santa" and "'Tis the Season" were taken on this day.

    #4 works.

The Santa Claus contrast is cool.

What a shame. So many people participating, so many wonderful costumes, and all it is is a hook-up op.

Nice shots. I like #1 the best. A sea of Santas...

The Hannukah/menorah hat had me rolling rolleyes1.gif
The Taco menu sounds like it has possibilities
and the homeless looking Santa added just the right touch.

We have this in Melbourne as well. Their route in the past has taken them through my local. As a standalone image, #4 definitely has more going for it than the others.

They are all great shots, yet #4 would be my selection of the bunch. There's just so much going on in there with the sea of difference between what I perceive as affluent runners/disposable income/play time and the street person most probably just living day to day.

What a hoot. I also like #4 the best. The sea of red hats in #1 is nice, but it's a little too soft for me.

I had to stop and park when I saw all the Santas. It really was a hoot!

#4 was going to be a stand-alone until it gave way to the other two I posted (Santa & 'Tis the Season) and became the anchor shot for this series (which is rare for me as I rarely shoot with any preplanned intent). The others help tell the story, but I agree they do not rise to the level of #4.

Thanks everyone for looking and commenting.
