Winter Storm

And who should appear .. A Robin :D

We are getting snow galore, but our neighbor has flooded his back yard for a skating rink and the Robins showed up for a drink. As long as I've lived here I've never seen a Robin in Dec. There were over 5 of them. Wish I could of gotten a better photo and one of them drinking, but my camera wouldn't focus on the bird through the fence. When it's snowing as heavy as it is now .. focusing is a real issue on small things.

I have hope .. Spring will come :D

    Hi Mary,

I can't believe those poor birds don't freeze to death.

I'm really worried about you. You're already begging for Spring and Winter is just now setting in. I hope you can hold out.:D:D

I'll trade you about anything you want if you can send me a White Christmas.

    Take care,

    Tom
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

You'd think all birds would fly somewhere other then here, but just the other day I took some photos of a finch. Sparrows are in the nesting house behind us. We feed them all winter so it's kinda cushy for them .. fly down .. eat and then fly up home again. Sparrows are here all winter along with crows, other birds and the Bald Eagles. Robins tho .. usually don't see them till late March.

If I could make it snow there for ya ... I'd be one rich woman rolleyes1.gif

It's a balmy 26° right now. Warm out actually. Gonna take a walk as soon as John is done snow blowing.

Come on over Tom .. we all can go for a nice winter walk :D

I don't remember then being around either, but guess they are in some parts of town ... crazy birds. Why spend winter here when they can spend it where it's warmer.

Ha .. Spring ... Lets hope it comes in January rolleyes1.gif

Don't forget to send some snow down here too! (We do have rain today and it's supposed to get colder....maybe it will freeze and I can get some ice shots!)

This is nice, Mary. I like the way you positioned the lines diagonally and adding those snow areas at the bottom. Good subject, too. Well done. :)
Sitting quietly, doing nothing. Spring comes and the grass grows by itself.

    Howdy Mary,

Sacrificing for Us once again, it is Strange to see the Robin, I always
think of them and Spring, I'd say that certainly isn't the case here.

Yes ... this time I had no mittens on. I was in such a hurry to get a shot of the Robin before it flew away.

Spring .. I think this bird has it's months and seasons all mixed up rolleyes1.gif

I love that itty bitty bit of color in an other wise black and whiteish shot.

I am waiting for your snow angel self portrait---what else are you going to do with all that snow?

Saw some boys last night digging a fort. They had lighting in there...Dang!!! When we were kids we had no lighting, but we did freeze it with water so we could slide through the tunnels faster to the

I think we have some dumb birds rolleyes1.gif River is high and open .. makes me wonder if they are finding a food source in the ground near the moving water.

You got a nice one for all the focus issues you mention. thumb.gif Works out just
    fine. :D
We too have been having some Robins stay over many of our last winters.
Not sure why that is, seems strange, and we spotted some just the other day
eating old berrys off the trees. The starlings go for the very same trees.
Hundreds and hundreds of starlings doing their swarming thing and very few Robins

    Hi Michael :D

Glad you think it worked out good. Snowflakes coming down in the millions really does interfere in shooting rolleyes1.gif

I sure hope they make it through the winter. It gets so darn cold sometimes. They too are eating off a crab apple tree near us. Think they would need more then just berries headscratch.gif

The snowflakes are a must have part of your photo. Very telling.
Always forget what to call those trees but thats what they are. Wonder how
long I can retain that info once again. My brain doesn't run down the same
    track every day. ne_nau.gif
