Got Ben to sit down for 10 minutes at half-time of the Utah-Boise State Game to practice some lighting. Needless to say, he really didn't want to be there. C&C Welcome.

    Go BSU!
    Looks like fun.
You could hook these together and it would look like a strip from one of those photo booths :).

Hey, at least he's adorable when he's objecting - mine just looks glum or resorts to "shoot the hand, Mom!"

I think these are great, actually, and you'll love having them in the archive in a few years! thumb.gif

Love them Mike. They are so immediate, so direct. Good use of b&w. I think they could have more punch tonally, and more sharpening.

Just occurred to me, it's sepia, is it not? That would part explain why I see them as a bit muted (aged, faded) for the jump-at-you-kid content (?)... What a ham the little guy is. Haff ta laff!rolleyes1.gif

As much as I love sepia, there is none here. The conversion was done in LR but I did not bump up the clarity or add any additional sharpening. I think the biggest culprit is the camera profile. I used the neutral profile which is what might be the root of the problem. I redid it with a different profile. The difference is subtle but when you compare the two side-by-side you can see it. Is this moving in a better direction?

Here's the original for an easier comparison.

Yes, Mike, I definitely think that is right!thumb.gif It does intensify the high contrast, but that's the way you shot 'em. He's definitely in the spotlight! You could try opening the shadows using a modest radius. But now the energy punches through.
