It might have been simpler to just get a T-mount adapter and attach the camera to a telescope... but I suppose borrowlenses had the TCs and not a telescope.

Haha, yeah those guys are awesome. I've rented from them a handful of times and I even dropped my bodies off earlier this summer for some sensor cleaning. Good company.

800 f/5.6 with five 2x TCs would be a 25600mm f/176, by my count.

The camera only sees one TC at a time, so the exif says f/11 @ 1600mm but yeah it's 5 TCs on an 800mm f/5.6 L lens.
