New uploader and changing Safari tabs

When I use the new uploader in Safari (v5.0.3) on my MBP (OS 10.6.5) it starts uploading straight away and appears to be working fine.

As and when I get bored with watching the upload :D I go to another website on a different tab of the same instance of Safari. When I go back to the Smugmug uploader tab, the upload appears to have stopped and the frame showing the upload progress is blank with just the red close button in the top right corner. I've lost the list of files to upload, uploaded and the links to return to the gallery etc.

Any ideas?

    Are you using the Simple uploader? Give it a try with the html5 uploader instead.
    The Simple uploader is java based and I think there may be a limitation on certain java / mac versions not allowing for background java use in Safari.
    Alternatively, you can try Firefox browser which may not have the problem. You can get Firefox from:
    www.getfirefox.com
