    It looks cold!

Love, love, love the composition - the way the humans are paying attention to the cat the the dog is soaking up the humans - and, of course, the posture of the cat!! She almost looks as though he is being modest and not aloof.

Without the title, I wouldn't have known it was a Christmas picture, which doesn't diminish the photograph for me one bit!! It is high in wtf value.

Hey I can see floorspace---Christmas isn't over until every inch of floor is covered with paper:)

Virginia makes a good point--it does look cold, maybe the hats?

I also keep wanting a peek into the dark room behind them.

Looking at this picture brings up some questions for me. Like what is the child gate braced against? I've always seen them braced on the door frame, but not in this case. Also, the room in the back seems more comfortable. The furniture in there looks more comfortable than the hardwood floor. I also echo the sentiments of it looking like it's cold. Something about the two people, though, make it seem like a happy moment. Maybe not the joyous moment in time that so many holiday pictures show, but still happy.

Darn you, BD! You posted an image that made me think when I took this week of specifically to avoid thinking! ;-)

Seriously, though. Good image. It pulled me in long enough to make me ask questions.

Actually, it's a Q coffee maker that was going home with Herself. mwink.gif

As to the various questions and speculations -
The house is 110-years old, has lousy heating, and we keep it at 62 during waking hours - so it was chilly - although God only knows why they were wearing hats - Damn kids!

The gates are to keep the dog - cats are hopeless - out of the livingroom - and the gates lean against the doorway frame. The livingroom is pretty much a room for company, and there was no company, so no one was in it and lights were off. As to the floor not being covered with wrapping paper. A., unwrapping had occurred about 10 hours earlier, and B., though I am SERIOUSLY messy, I am semi-anal about trying to keep control of the mess on Xmas morning, and keep a big trash bag going - open the present, throw the wrapping in the bag. It keeps the mess from getting out of control and also seems to make it less likely that parts or all of a present or presents will eventually end up getting tossed when the trash is finally scooped up. I realize that this must sound like utter BS to the couple of you who have seen my office. mwink.gif But it is true.

As to the image - I do see it as one to which one can bring - and from which one can take - pretty much anything.

It is a shot with so much to look at in such a mundane setting... I will have to expand my photographic viewing to try to see scenes as you regularly post.

So much for visiting B.D. I'd have hypothermia in a matter of minutes. :D

For visitors, as opposed to family, we crank up the heat - come see us any time.:D
