I will be out of town for a couple weeks so this one will go for just over two weeks. From now till January 18th, 2011 at 8 am AST.
The theme is Close ups or Macros. Show your best 3 images of anything that is close up or macros if you have the lenses for it. I am looking for clear images preferably with some bokeh or good DOF showing. Also if you know what lens you used please list it and whether you cropped to get close or not.
Official MINI Challenge rules can be found at this LINK
Here are some examples, I do have stack macro rings but do not have decent examples to show you yet...
this is considered a close up taken with an kit lens (18-55mm) and cropped...
again another close up that was taken with a 55-200mm lens and cropped...
taken with a nikon 55-200mm lens and cropped

I like this challenge. I've wanted to explore more macro work, and this is a great incentive.

Thank you (that's if you're referring to me, not JAG's samples?).
It's good to know that the work is seen as good when it's produced with very cheap, basic kit. I'd love a MPE-65 (I think it's called?) or something - but money says no!

Most Popular Photos
1. New Zealand Tea Tree. These blooms on this shrub are quite small (around 8-12mm). I used my 50mm macro lens for this one. It is not cropped and has very little post-editing.
2. Some of my daughters beads. This was the first time I ever tried to use an extension tube with my 50mm lens. I wish I'd thought to include a ruler in this shot to really show how small these beads really are.
3. Dogwood Blossoms, also shot with my 50mm macro lens.
Sherry
All shot with extension tubes. I do not currently own a dedicated macro lens.

Thanks JAG for the fun theme!

Thanks, it actually is a white rose but the way the light lit it, made the colors like chocolate in the center.

Very nice!

Very nice! I like the vignette.
Thanks! I'm really happy with it. She wasn't sure what to make of the camera. I chased her for about 10 minutes. I don't know if I'll ever sell it - not many people want to hang a picture of a spider on their wall.
I think it's definitely got sale potential. I'm not a insect macro guy, but it's these type shots, along with ChasingSky's mantis shot that have this unique perspective or composition that puts it in a new class and makes me look.
Beautiful. I love the flow and the translucency. Very nice.
