Saw this most excellent video, linked from PentaxForums.com, it blew my mind:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqRn3at0H60
And, eureka - I had all the parts to make it happen, never knew! Chinese (reverse-thread) pentax extension tubes and a few step ups, who'd a thought?
But countless shots later, I was frustrated and sullen. It's very hard - definitely harder than the video makes it seem, guys got patience and skill, taht's for sure. I sweated a lot, got mauled by mosquitos, shot a lot of empty space and blurred spider arm hair.
Garden spider, can't you tell?
I finally managed to get a jumping spider to stop and smile. Cornered him under the lip of the deck's railing cap (we're both upside-down for the photo). Man this patience stuff that you guys do w/ macro is addicting. And check out the focal range of the reversed 28mm lens at f11.

Yes the DOF when shooting at higher magnifications is rather narrow and it does take quite a lot of practice.
