Few from White Sands, New Mexico shooting with with Danny (dlplumer).

Tried a subdued black and white ... this is what it feels like in the middle of the dunes

Then Danny had to go home and I met up with Joel (kdog) to spend an amazing two days at the Bosque Del Apache Refuge - any of you bird lovers - this is paradise.

I learnt a lot about shooting birds, it's not easy .. especially with a 70-200mm 4.0 (original) with 1.4 to try to get more reach. I don't have to tell you what I felt like with everyone around me shooting with a 500mm minimum :rofl

Fantastic, Shimon! I think that White Sands is on the top of my list should I be in NM. That's just stunning.

I LOVE #1 but my eye immediately went to the plant in the distance. Have you thought about cloning that out?
    Nice work!

The first two shots are incredible, as is the last of the birds in flight.

I like 1 and 3 out of this series. thumb.gif

Wish I could have joined you guys in White Sands. I have been out there twice but many moons ago and limited with time due to work.

BTW, the park gates don't usually open until after sunrise so the two options I think are to hike in a mile or more in the dark or they allow camping overnight in the park - will try one of these next time.

Great point, I thought I liked it that way but now that you've mentioned that it really bothers me - I'll clone it out.

Thanks, I took about 2000 shots of birds ... man, I really need a 500

Thanks Aaron, sorry you couldn't make it ... but I think you got some shots at different dunes recently

Awesome set, Shimon! That shot of the sandhills is just perfect. I'm just getting used to the 500mm, and I've got to tell you that it's as much of a curse as it is a blessing at shooting action like this. I'm sure you saw me shooting quite a bit with my 100-400 zoom as well. In fact, most long-lens shooters at Bosque had another body with a shorter lens on it over the shoulder as I'm sure you noticed. Great shots in both galleries. I'm sorry I missed White Sands this time around as well. You guys got some really good shots there. Great shooting with you my friend, and looking forward to doing it again some time soon. thumb.gif

    Cheers,
    -joel

PS: Here's Shimon, getting every last photon out of the twilight hour.

Thanks Chris, kdog was pretty elusive but a lot easier than getting the hawks :)
