Thanks rookieshooter,
Cute indeed ~ I suspect one could wind-up in their "sandbox", if you know what I mean
Hey Craig,
That cougar was shot (image only ) through a chain-link fence. It's still in the back area of the Ft. Worth Zoo, while they are constructing new enclosures for the pair.
Those white tigers; the enclosure has a 1" Plexiglas window on the far side, and sometimes the tigers (2) come up to it and watch people. Your only inches away from certain death ~ it always gives me the willies
Interestigly, they only pay attention to small children. They honestly watch them like prey
We managed to survive 2010, so I'm confident that 2011 will be much better

Hey Lauren,
I bet if your cat had heard these guys/gals roar, she might think differently!
It was about feeding time, and we were at the other end of the zoo when they started roaring. I can hardly explain it, but the sound "filled" the air all over the zoo. I can't imagine camping out and hearing that
Nice works Randy. They easily appear to be right out in the wild.

Scary .. watching children like prey. When we hike in CO we were told that Mountain Lions see kids as prey. We had our kids walk in front of us.

Thanks Denise,
Actually, there is an electric wire at his/her feet. Strange, but it's only about 2" off the ground. A zoo worker told us that they can feel the electricity in their whiskers, and he/she was not liking it!
The zoo worker went on to explain that about 3 times a week, they randomly turn the electric wire off so the cats can go down for a swim. What I don't understand, is why the big cats don't just step over that single low wire anytime they want
Hey Mary,
The mountain lion was also watching small kids like they were prey. I watched the cats for about 30 minutes. Adults would come and go without any notice by the lions, but when they had a small child, they immediately locked eyes on them and tracked them all the way across their area. No doubt about it... they were hunting
Thanks Brian!
