Blue Snow

I had a great time watching the fading light turn this snowbank indigo. I'm guessing the water content of the snow had something to do with it. Maybe the temps did as well, it was already below zero, heading for -17 F.

    Gorgeous shot. Curiously, the richness of the blue combined with the nice sky colors makes it feel less cold to me, maybe because the saturation does not suggest snow. But I'll certainly take your word that it was cold rolleyes1.gif.

    Yep the snow will look blue. During the daytime hours it can make the snow look like a big lake.

    I always thought it was the sky reflection on snow, but I'm sure there's some scientific explanation including moisture in the snow.
