Fargo, ND New Years Eve Storm

Our storm is over and people are still digging out. While the snowfall was only a little over 10 inches from both storms that hit us ... the wind did the most damage with drifts as high as 10ft. Hopefully all the roads will open up and I can get out into the country for some photos.

1 -- Visiting the Cemetery. This was taken from the car. Snow was up past my window and I/we couldn't open the doors to get out. John had way to much fun driving here :rofl

2 -- South High School

3 -- Shopping carts

4 -- Shopping carts from a distance.

5 -- Supervising :rofl John got out to help, but the car was pushed out before he could help.

6 -- Main St.

7 -- Had to include a photo of our dog Ty :D She looks bewildered as to where to go. We keep the backyard shoveled out for her so she doesn't need to walk through the deep snow. John left lawn chairs out this year thinking we could sit outside with her. I think he forgot what ND winters are like :rofl

8 -- Thinking of summer :D This isn't mine .. wish it was. Belongs to our neighbors down the street.

    Howdy Mary,

WOWSER, I'm with Ty, I'd be bewildered as well.

I don't think I've ever seen snow that High or Drifts like
    that.

We get 1-2" and it almost shuts things down:D:D:D

    Really neat series of images.
    Take care,

    Craig

    Hi Mary,

I appreciate that it's one thing to go play in snow and quite another thing to have to work and get around in it. But I could sure stand a dose of the stuff right about now.

Very nice series. I particularly like the shopping carts.

    Take care,

    Tom
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Awesome shots, Mary. That really is a LOT of snow. I thought the shopping cart abstracts were especially brilliant. :D

guess I can stop complaining about my blizzard then :)

The grocery carts are the best!
Glad you are out shooting in it because you still have a ways to go before things warm up.

hmm Ok so I will stop complaining about the blizzard, and I will resume complaining about the lack of trash pickup.

What would New York be if there were nothing to complain about? rolleyes1.gifmwink.gif

#3 also for me, Mary. Very nice! thumb.gifthumbthumb.gif
Sitting quietly, doing nothing. Spring comes and the grass grows by itself.

Wow Mary! My favorite is #3, great shot. The high school shot really brought out the power of drifting snow.

    Hi Craig --

You would be bewildered wouldn't ya rolleyes1.gif

Those drifts are a child's playground. We sled down many a roof tops in my younger years and built many forts too. It's a blast even in my older years .. the temptation to climb it is powerful :D

Glad you liked the series of photo.

    Hi Richard ...

ND winters can be really brutal sometimes. This storm was actually mild in comparison to some.

I could use some of the Madrid winters right now :D It's going to be awhile till I see bare ground.

Happy to hear you enjoyed the series of shots.

    Hi Tom ...

We have extra .. I'd be more then happy to ship some off to ya :D

Gotta admit .. I love it. It's so pretty .. cold tho, but if you dress warm enough you can enjoy it.

I liked the shopping carts too. Feel sorry for the guy that needs to dig all those out.

Glad you enjoyed the series :D

    Hi,

I really wish I could of stayed out there longer taking more photos of the carts, but I was standing on solid ice. Cars and trucks were skirting past me. A Wal-mart parking lot isn't the best place to be standing on a Sat. morning after a storm.

Happy that you enjoyed seeing our winter wonderland :D

    Hi Liz --

You all had a doozie of a storm up there. You can complain all you want :D

We've never had a problem with trash pick up after a storm. If they can't get it picked up on the day it should be ... they just double up on the next day. Granted Fargo, ND is a whole lot smaller then where you live.

Winter .. my favorite time to be out shooting iloveyou.gif

    Hi jiro :D

I'm happy to hear you like #3 -- I do too. Thought about crawling on top to get a shot, but didn't. Wal-mart security might of arrested me -- That would not of made my Mom happy rolleyes1.gif

    Hi Denise --

#3 just might get printed out :D

It is amazing how drifting snow comes about. Where it will be one place and then not another.
