Battery Charger

Just got a Maha C801D charger from Thomas Distributing. They got the charger out the door the same day I ordered it.

Just finished charging up 8 brand new Sanyo 2700 batteries. It took about 3 hours to do a soft charge. Popped 4 of them into a Speedlite and, no suprise, they worked just fine. Havn't had a chance to see how long they last yet.

Thomas Distributing deal included some plastic battery cases with both the charger and the batteries I ordered, along with a nice soft case for the charger itself.

Before I ordered it I had emailed Thomas's support with some questions I had and the replied almost intantaneously.

I have to say I had a really good experience dealing the Thomas. I be using them for batteries going forward.

I have a MH-C808M from distributor in Australia. It's a beautiful thing, but I didn't get no darn nice soft case!?:cry Lucky you!

I'll be interested in how you find the performance of the batteries. The best assessment I have read to date is that the Powerex are tops for flash recycling and hold charge moderately well, and Eniloops (also by Sanyo I think?) are moderately good for recycling and tops for holding charge.

I haven't given them a real trial by fire yet, but the Sanyo 2700's do lose charge just sitting around but Syl Arena ( http://speedliting.com/ ) did a bunch of battery testing and found them to give the most flashes before recycle time just took too long.

I also got some eneloop AA's but those are for other electronics, not flashes. Those are low discharge and should be able to be able to sit on shelf for 6 months to a year with much loss. Why Syl did his tests none of the low self-discharge like eneloop provided as many flashes as the regular NiMH batteries. I've just got to remember to trickle up the Sanyo's the day before.
