My first meager offering for 2011.
I like it, but I think I just missed.

I love what's happening on the left, but the right side is throwing me.

You're right, Liz. It is close. But I don't think it's the photographer. I'd like to see it from the left a little more, but the positioning of the lady in the leopard jacket prevents that from working...she'd have blocked the lady talking to her. Or maybe if the same lady in the leopard jacket had her stance opened a little more towards you to show a little more of her face.

So if you're not in love with it, blame the leopard jacket lady, IMO. ;-)

To damonff's point, maybe a crop to eliminate some of the stuff on the right? Say...I don't know...cut out the sign on and everything to the right of it? Thought take that for what it's worth...if you gave me a penny for my photography thoughts, I'd have to figure out how to get you change.

    Thank you both.
I have recropped. I dont' know why I find it so hard to crop, even after being advised to do so. But here it is:) and I do like it--still it's missing something. Well at the very least, it's my first offering of the new year.

I don't like to crop, either, Liz. ;-)

I like the crop better. You can still see that it's in a bookstore without the distracting elements on the right. It may not be what you were looking for, but it works for me. :-)

Excellent capture of these two and processed oh so well... Their expressions/gaze captivates my interest. BUT, as you note, it's missing something. I believe it is any clue as to what is causing these expressions. There is no way to figure it out. Nice first offering!

The crop looks better- but still anemic as a street shot.

    Thanks all.
I still like the original better :D--
But still think I missed cropped or not--I feel that I was close though, but almost doesn't count.

Thanks all--and thanks for the suggestion to crop, I have to get used to doing that more, but I feel a fight internally when I have to.

    Got it immediately Liz.

"Can you believe she paid good money for that face? She ought to sue."

I could do a whole conversation on that photo.

animal print coat lady: "oh mother, you are such a gossip."
older lady: "oh darling, I can't help it, her life should be on one of those taudry reality tv shows, I mean after last year's debacle with her husband photographed in comprimising positions with that cheap cross dresser, well I never. But let's not gossip dear, it's unbecoming".

hee hee. Thank you Patti. It was all I could do not to put a caption on the shot.

I wish I had gotten a shot of Marge--poor thing.

Thanks Rutt--it was suggested by Damon.
It took me a while to get used to it, but with the crop it's all about the womens' expressions, which is what it's all about.
