Playing with the Light

I am just starting to try to take close up shots of flowers indoors - without natural lighting. I don't have anything special for doing this. Today I experimented with candlelight below the iris, and I bounced the external flash (which I had minimized). If I try this again sometime, what might you suggest changing - either in my set up or in post processing? I have Lightroom 3 and Photoshop Elements. I used the 24-105L lens for these shots. Might have done better using the 60 mm macro.

Thanks.
P.S. As mentioned in another thread on dgrin, I have a new monitor that I haven't yet calibrated and most pictures look too red. If this one really is too vibrant, feel free to let me know.:scratch

I'm thinking that I would do well to work through some of the tutorials offered here and on other parts of the dgrin forum. Lots of great stuff here and the winter is a good time for me to be doing this kind of thing!
