Definitely attempting to try new things in 2011 one of my goals for my photography was to venture into the world of HDR, both using the HDR to create and to also enhance. Here is one in my creative folder.
This is a photo taken in a local cemetery of the entrance to the mausoleum. The patterns and old stone drew me in.
5 bracketed shots: -2,-1,0,+1,+2. Photomatix.
Please feel free to comment and offer any suggestions.
You can see what I have done so far in HDR with the following link.

Hi Mandy - the colors seem very flat, almost as shot thru a dirty pane of glass - usually HDR shots will really 'POP' once the multiple exposures are combined/blended. headscratch.gif

I did this for a painterly feel.....so would that kind "pop?"

on closer inspection, it appears the detail/saturation is better around the edges of the frame and the middle seems to have a cast/soft feel to it.
I def see the 'painterly' treatment, but yes, usually the colors pop.

if you are using photomatix, try increasing the strength to 100% to get a little more pop.

I find that when I get an image like this through Photomatix (the first flat looking image), I usually need to run it through curves in PS. It really helps with the flattness generated by Photomatix.

    Neat image though.

So when it comes out flat work the curves a bit? I'm also using LR3, so will give that a whirl...I open to any and all critiques. This is all new to me.

Yes, that is what nearly always works for me. You'll notice a difference right away. It doesn't take much either. Best of luck! thumb.gif

I'm a sponge....so all of these suggestions are very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to talk about what and what won't work. It's appreciated.
