If you would have the chance, you could come back to the scene and do a 2 or 3 bracketed exposure images and then sandwich them together. It's more like an HDR approach but not the usual over-saturated nor over-sharpened style. What we want to achieve is just the natural ambience of the ceiling with the glorious detail on the chandeliers restored. A very sturdy tripod would definitely a plus here. Spot meter the chandelier and override the exposure by setting the exposure compensation to +2 (zone 7). This would be your exposure for the chandelier. Hope this helps.
