Hi guys, this is my first time to try shooting some flowers under artificial light. I still can't go out due to cold weather so I have to find a way to amuse myself inside the house. Any C&C would be most welcome!

Sitting quietly, doing nothing. Spring comes and the grass grows by itself.

Thank you very much for the feedback! I'm just experimenting on a lot of stuff with this shot. The fabric is a tulle type of mesh, just to cover the mess around the flower. I'll change the background later. Thanks a lot again. I'm learning a lot from your feedback, guys!

I love how you continue to stretch your horizons by trying different techniques....in very creative ways, I might add. I think backing off the intensity of the light, just a tad, might benefit this shot. But, honestly, it's pretty darn great as it is.

Very nice suggestion, Tom. Thanks! I'll adjust the exposure a little bit down later. You guys are great. You always give me valuable insights and suggestions to make me learn positively. Thanks a lot, bruddah.

Take care,

P.S. Taking the sparkle in the cloth out was a positive step as well....centered the focus more to the flower.
Thank you very much again for the inputs, Tom. I did one more adjustment to the image. Is this "better" than the previous one?

Maybe try turning down the luminosity of the green and yellow channel a tad. And keep the bright red.
I do like the black around it. It just sucks you in.
Thanks, Zerodog. It's like having the best of two things.

Uh... what now, Tom? Do I have to blow up the Poinsettia now with Dynamites to make it pop?

Jiro... I wanted to echo your comments about how much there is to learn in this forum. I'm enjoying all the looking, reading, posting... just wish there were more hours in the day to absorb and apply what I'm seeing and learning.

I perfectly agree with you on that, Bill. At least there are a lot of good guys here at DGrin who are patient enough to look at our images and comment on how to make our images better. Without them, it's hard to just confine our opinion based on our ego that our images are that good but not really good due to some flaws that we can't or did not see.
