Jeff, I'm thinking those are not the feet of the hawk, but of the prey it's carrying. See how the hawk appears to have two tails? I believe the black lower tail which is below the red tail actually belongs to the poor bird that's being carried away. Awesome shot!
Must have had a horrible landing one day to end up with legs like that. . I suspect as Kdog, it's pray being hauled home for din din. Nice capture Jeff.

I should have put up a smile on the ID --thank you for the capture feed back I was very pleased with what I made from a very very bad light day :ivar but I think the red tail was more pleased than me:D what I missed was a coopers and another red tail going after it.
