Really nice series of pics. Wonderful variety also. I sure wish our pelicans had the coloring of your West coast birds. Not nearly as colorful. That kite is a cooooool bird. Well done.

This is my first shot of a Clapper Rail. Someone told me I had to wait for the high tides in December/January which flush them out of their hideouts into the open.

These pelicans don't breed in the area but stay around long enough sometimes so you can find some in breeding plumage for some weeks.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Amazing shots and all super crisp and sharp! What lens(es) were these taken with? I'm guessing something with a really long reach.

Do you live in the SF Bay Area? I just moved out here this past summer myself.

Thanks Shima. I use a 500mm f/4 lens plus a 1.4x extander giving me an effective focal length of 700mm.
This is ok for small birds but sometimes I wish I had an even longer lens. :D

Yes, I am located in the South Bay, not far from Shoreline Park, where I've done a lot of birding. Some of these pictures have been taken there and in other locations around the bay.
