We have them in the millions here.

Flying fox or fruit bat is its common name. They hang about in the mangroves sleeping & squabbling during the day & at night...fly over & crap on your car to make sure every car in the city looks like it was attacked with stripper. There is no escape.

Hard to get in flight as they climb to the top of the tree to launch.

    Gus,

I love the last shot. Bats look so cool when they are wrapped up in their wings like that.

    Cheers,

    Tks seamus.

See how small his eye pupil is in the sunlight ? They sleep in the mangroves until about 6pm & then leave in their thousands at once to find mango trees. They have a huge wing span for a bat...about 3 feet.

    Hey Gus,

One of the reasons I love your posts is that I get to see things I don't see down here in Florida. I have to tell you that I'm very happy I haven't seen that ugly sucker down here. :uhoh Good shots. thumb.gif

Thanks all...they make good pets as a lot of people care for injured ones but they do carry the lisser virus which is a form of rabies i believe.

You are in far more danger from a good squirt of semi digested mango pulp from 100 feet above than any blood sucking.

No blood sucking doesn't bother me much, got plenty of them over here (the two legged kind), but if you ever saw the way good ole Bela Lugosi wrapped that cape around himself exactly like your last shot : :uhoh :D

Not that I would want Mango poop squirted my way either :lol
