I like the first one Rainbow. She truly is enthralled with him. I wonder if this is the first homeless person she's seen or maybe she reminds her of someone?
I do agree a bit with jiro that the highlights in the BG are just a tad distracting to the subject, but it's not critical and it's your photo.
She is indeed mesmerized and oblivious to what ever has caught the other's attention. So, I'm much more interested in what's in her head than what's going on that has everyone else's interest. Kudos!
Glad I didn't call it "Enlightened" to try even harder to sneak the second one by... The first originally going to be by itself (which I should have kept to). The woman with the hat could have been a subject all by herself but I did not notice her until I saw the shots later.
I agree on the bright BG. It is something I struggle with in PP sometimes as if I bring it back more using global sliders, the main subject begins to look get a 'plastic' appearance (I slid the 'highlights' slider back the max amount). And I am resisting using layers as taking the fun out of it (too much PC time already).

First one is really terrific - you've captured a formative moment in a child's life. I'd lose the second one.
