    Extremely interesting. Not realy sure what I think about it. I like it alot just not sure what to make of it yet. Favorite pieces are the tones of the thistle and its texture, The lips and the poppy. A definate 9 on a 1-10 cool factor scale.

    Great to get your feedback, Albert, thanks! It's one of a little project I have been doing using old dolls and bits of myself - here it's some skin, in a previous one I posted on Dgrin it was my eyes in the doll. Yes, I too like the thistle, it was the basic bit of beauty that got me started on this image. One reason I am doing this set is to learn compositing techniques, though I want to always keep to the pixels that were captured by my camera in my own hands.

    Do you do any compositing?

    It's certainly unique! The embedded face here really mesmerizes.

    I like this image ... while I would call it digital art, it is riveting ... it seems to reach out to the viewer saying "Look at me ... are there bits and pieces of you in here?".

    Very creative work, Neil. I have to say, though that I would like it more if the red of the rose wasn't so overpowering. Try putting your hand over the rose. Notice how the face and all of the subtle textures and details can be better appreciated? Maybe just ghosting out the rose or adding some subtle textural overlay would help integrate it with the rest of the elements. At least that's the way I see it.

    Thanks for your ideas briandelion! The flower has been controversial in my mind too. What I do think it does is give the image energy which keeps it dynamic. If it were homogenised into the whole I think, yes, the whole would not lose interest, but would perhaps become quieter and lose tension. Since this image is about questioning I think maybe the flower is better left to shout than to be hushed.

    But really your comment is very relevant to how I assess the image.
