New! Embeddable Buy Links

Great addition to your blog, forum and Facebook postings, you can now display a photo, and include an embeddable buy link, so that when clicked, the visitor goes right to the add to shopping cart on your SmugMug site!


Here's an example, just click on the photo and see :thumb



The links are found in Share > Get a link and you can get an individual photo buy link or you can link to a whole gallery (under the gallery tab).

Here's an example that would take you to a whole gallery:

"Hey parents, great to see you all at the promotion ceremony today, here are the photos."

Niiiiiice! This definitely takes the guess work out of "how do I buy photos?". And, I can see tons of other ways to use this new awesomeness, too.

Is there some way to use these new buy links in Blogger and Wordpress? When one attempts to add an image using these links the respective sites reject them as invalid. I know I can create a text line and post the link there but I was looking for a more streamlined way of doing this.

The only way I can see of doing this is to use your own HTML instead of the built-in photo links. I am not familiar with Wordpress, but Blogger uploads your photos to then be included in your blog - I'm not aware of any way to tell it to embed the buy link when the photo is displayed as opposed to using the photo as a direct link to "buy" in your galleries. The reason the URL is rejected as invalid is that they are looking for an image url, not a link to a web page.

Of course, just use basic html.

1. copy the 'blog link' from embeddable links tab.
2. copy the 'buy link' from the photo links tab.
3. paste the buy link instead of the gallery link right after the href.

The "Buy Links" are great, but I noticed that the gallery link defaults to the 4x6 size, what would be cool is if we could have the link default to a size of our choice, say 11x14 instead of 4x6.:D

I was just fully checking it over I wish we could have a separate dialog location for this other than share, due to the fact that 1/2 of the clients are little stealers, I have to shut the sharing, and all that off.. Is there a way around it, I usually can create it with HTML, on my side and just give a link directly to a cart.
