Assistant Password - can it be used for "Send to SmugMug"

Question (sorry- couldn't find the answer thru a search here, or Help). I'm wondering whether I can give someone my Assistant Password, and they could then use that password for the "Send to SmugMug" option? I realize they'd need to download "Send to SmugMug" first. But I didn't know if that option can only be used w/ my main PW or if Assistant PWs would work. Thanks!

Ok... well, I need to know for sure. I've never done Send to Smug before, & neither have they. Since they have to download the program & then I've gotta go through instructions & give them the PW, etc. I don't wanna just be "trying" it. Anyway, the main reason I even asked is because I'm trying to decide the best option for my sister to upload wedding photos... sorting through the various options for that. I'm not crazy about all the capabilities the assistant PW gives someone.

I do not use STS. But you can just try it, it's easy

Ok, I think you didn't read my post. Could someone who knows, please just let me know... this should be a simple answer. I'm in the middle of stuff here; can't really go thru all the steps to try it, as I said. I just need a yes or no.

I'm not sure anyone here knows. Since Send to Smugmug is a 3rd party app built on the Smugmug API, this is really an API question about whether the API lets you log in to an account using the assistant password or not. My guess is no since there are very few reasons to make the API work that way and lots of complications to doing so (only some functions would be allowed), but you can ask over in the API forum. Or, you can find the author of SendtoSmugmug and try to send them a question.

Ok, thanks... I didn't even know this was a third-party thing since it's always mentioned a lot here. I see stuff about it all the time, except now that I'm looking for info I can't find much. I can't even think what the API forum is. Guess I'll look around when I've had sleep!

API forum is just another forum on dgrin: http://www.dgrin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=25. I have some open questions there myself so I'm not optimistic that you'll get an answer.

I'm so sorry you feel this way Devbobo does his best to answer every question there - it is a community-supported forum as well, John. You can always write our Support Heroes and we'll get our API Sorcerer to hop on any question.

What threw me off about Send-to-SmugMug being an app is that it's one of the options listed in the main uploading dialogue box. I didn't know apps get listed there amongst everything else. It kinda seems too that if it's gonna get listed there, it would have all the same support the other uploaders have.

On that page we have uploaders from several third parties. And we try very much to support them all, Anna Lisa. I don't use every single uploader. There is a SendToSmugMug thread on Dgrin, and there's awesome support by Omar on his site.

Two questions unanswered in that forum:

http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=186714 (question posted Thursday) and http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=186714 (question posted Jan. 2nd). Both are about the same issue. I had no idea I could send API questions to the help desk and that they would find there way to someone who could answer them. I will do that when I don't get an answer on dgrin.
