Finally - back to ski racing on Mt Hood!
Yippee! After spending the off-season tweaking my website and getting a new keywording workflow down, it was nice to be out in the snow watching these kids...
The weather sucked - lots of snow and wind but there were moments of almost blue sky. Here are a couple of my favorites from the weekend.
#1
#2 Love the University of Oregon touches...
#3
#4 Some times things don't go as planned. Goggles got knocked off but still pushing down the hill...
#5 Almost perfect. Just one thing missing...one of her poles.

it's not the size of the lens that matters... It's how you focus it.
aaaaa.... who am I kidding!
whoever dies with the biggest coolest piece of glass, wins!
Not just pole, but glove as well!
Nice shots!

Thanks for stopping by Sean. How's the snowboard biz?
I was so fixated on the missing pole that I completely missed the glove. Makes sense though. I wish I would have turned to watch her the rest of the way to see if she was cross-blocking with that hand...

For focusing, I acquire them just above the gate and track them through. If I do it right, I get two shots that are too early, 3-4 that are in the zone and then another 2-3 in the transition to the next gate.
My biggest problem is with vertical tracking - there are times that I don't come down far enough and start crowding the bottom of the frame. I'd love to lay in the snow for these but find that doing so makes it even harder to do the vertical tracking.

I know that feeling! Been in the middle of a move from NJ to Jacksonville, FL and my camera is feeling neglected. Should be able to get back to shooting myself. Got a show to shoot later this month. Can't wait. I miss shooting... :::sigh:::

I've learned quite a bit putting this together and would be happy to share with anyone that wants to implement something like this. The entire implementation is based on previous threads here in Dgrin.
