Looking to buy a 1D mk III for about 2k. I know that price might be a stretch, but after seeing it being sold for that much I am willing to give it a try.

$2000 is not stretching it. I paid $1900 back in December, 2009 for my MK3 w/ 2 batteries off craigslist. It's an excellent camera Keep looking, you'll find one.
