Image sold-is it cropped in order?

Hi everybody
When I check about a sale made a few days ago, the preview shows the image as if it's been cropped by the customer
As long as I know I haven't allowed customers to do any cropping to my images when print size fit the original proportions.
However if this option is still available to customers I'd like to disable it but I don't know how.
thanks
Fabio

I'm one of the Support Heroes here, at SmugMug.
There's actually not a way for you to disable the cropping tool in the shopping cart. Since we offer such a wide variety of sizes, it's impossible for you to post a "one size fits all" image, without the ability to crop.
What you can do is add proofing days to your orders, so you can correct cropping errors with your customers' orders. The crop in your example was intentionally done, as you see it. When you encounter those, you might want to contact your customer, before you change what they did.
With proof delay, you can not only fix cropping errors, but you can also retouch, and replace images, if needed. We have all the details for you right here: http://www.smugmug.com/help/proof-retouch-replace
Hope that helped!

I would rather say that as the author of my images (and owner of all rights about them), I should have the chance whether to allow or not customers to apply croppings when purchasing one of my pictures......

You do. Be sure that Proof Delay is ON for your galleries. Any photos that get cropped you can adjust them in proof delay.

I, as everybody else, put great efforts in the attempt to take the best pictures I can and I put as much effort later in post production, which includes obviously cropping; after all this burden, why should I allow people to do whatever they want with my images? scratch
If they don't like the cropping they can avoid to buy it, but if they like it they should buy "that" picture, not something different......

But my comment about this issue is referred to those sizes that fit the aspect ratio of the original file (2:3).
I understand that I have to accept the fact of customers cropping images that don't cope with original aspect ratio (although I reckon this crop should be left to the author as well), but for images with the same proportions I think the option to disable cropping should be a standard.
There's so much talk (here at SM too) about the right way to handle the property of images and the right to control them and then we allow anybody to crop them the way they just like it......it's a nonsense!

You have complete and full control of the crop if you simply set your galleries to Proof Delay.
