Thanks for your comment peoorvendal! Yeah, I agree the colour is a bit off, but actually you can blame vanGogh for it, it's his palette for Portrait of a Peasant.
And you are right about the b&w too, but wait, I can explain!:D It's an infrared with a bit of diffusion, so the highlights are strong and some of the detail is diffused in the diffusion. But the highlights are not blown. It's a matter of taste. I didn't want strong crispiness in it, I wanted something a bit softer and dreamier, even creamier! in the edges.
So I was moving away from documentary and from correct this and that, towards mood.
Dunno what score you would give me in those terms.
Great name for the town you're from!

I wish the barrel was more prominent in the B/W one, to give the eye somewhere to go.

Thanks Rocky, I will have a look at doing that! I don't want it to be mistaken for naturalistic, however. I am trying to keep framing in mind, imagining it as a miniature with a wide matte. Presented in such a way the intense and exaggerated colours are going to be less in area so more acceptable to the eye and brain... maybe!

Thanks Doug. Yes that version is attractive to me too. It has something of the "twi" in it, as in twilight.

Thanks peoorvendal, I see your point. I could burn it in a bit. In fact, I would have moved that drum out of the picture but it was half full of rocks and water! Had to accommodate it!
