What a great idea! They must like you a lot to be that trusting. As usual you make getting such nice candids look easy. #15 straight, 16 goof?

These are great. Did you just set up the umbrella in one spot and invite folks over for the portraits?

I shoot my holiday party every year as well. Fun photos for the office!

Man I want to work at your office, looks like a model shoot.
Like the idea of normal and fun shots.
Not sure why you didn't move them over a couple feet to get those lights out of your background...hmmmm.
Looks like you had a blast and got some really nice photos.....win win!

thanks, zoomer. I had a 4 foot panel of wood to work with..haha..that's it! The rest of the ballroom was plain vanilla.

I like the idea of goof and straight ... maybe I'll steal it (but I will give proper attribution).

correct. literally about 16 inches from the subject in ttl..shoot through umbrella. The thing that makes teh shots imo is the room is dark to begin with so you get dramatic light fall off and little ambient.

    Thanks.
I did a boudoir shoot (for practice) and I used two shoot through umbrellas and created too much flat lighting.
I want to get back to basics and just start learning again with one single light source.
