Putting Ads on my site

I have been exploring the idea of putting ads (Google ad sense or others) on my site to generate just that much more money.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that this was cool. I just wanted to make sure before I go ahead with it.

Also is there anybody out there currently running any type of ads on their site. If so... what ad company? What type of traffic are you getting.. and are you making any money?
