Using Event Gallery in proof workflow?

Hi there,
I was just wondering if anyone else was using the Event Gallery feature to help clients review their proofs prior to doing retouching / finishing work (and posting those results in a new gallery).

My typical scenarios are like this:
  1. Take pictures
  2. Select the good ones and post them to a gallery
  3. Have the client pick their favorites
  4. Color correct the selections
  5. Possibly do another review, perhaps invite more people to review the gallery
  6. Select the final set
  7. Finish processing the photos
  8. Post for purchase / download
  9. Profit

The 3 big issues here are:

Event galleries have no priority (either you like them, or you don't - and that can be OK).

Event galleries have one owner - multiple invites result in multiple galleries and there's no easy way to combine "votes" for pictures.

There isn't an easy way to create a correspondence between my hard drive's file names and the favorites in SmugMug Event Galleries.

One improvement I thought of (for use with a Windows Phone 7 SmugMug app) was to tag photos with a particular keyword (instead of using an Event Gallery). Then you use a Smart Gallery to find the selections.

You'd create 2 galleries: one for the proofs, and one Smart Gallery that looks at that gallery + a keyword like "Selected". Then that Smart Gallery always has the selections you make. If you have multiple people, you can combine them into a Smart Gallery.

That's a lot of work.

Anyhow, does anyone else do this?
Thanks,
TTFN
