OMG, it's still there! U of M alumnus here. Whew!

Neat shot. It has a kind of tilt/shift look about it, even though it doesn't look like a miniature. I like it.

haha, you are correct. i added a slight blur to the image (just not as strong as full tilt shift), i wanted to go like 30% of the way to tilt shift. ive had a few people look at this already and agree with me that the slight blur settles down the picture enough to where you start noticing smaller elements like the graffiti around the sign and ladder and the HVAC stuff in the bottom.

i have been trying to find a way to continue making neat shots and i have been experimenting with some light tilt shift to slow down some complicated images.

i felt that the intent of the picture was exactly as i wanted (for me). the sharp sign is NOT the subject...but rather the shadowy elements that you dont notice when you are down on the well lit street looking at the sign. i like when i look at this pic that i feel like i won something when i notice the graffiti and the things out of sight to the ground dwelling society. but in all seriousness this isnt the best pic, but i think it would look decent near my desk. ann arbor has ALOT of things like this, which is my favorite kind of urban photography.

So, in other words, this is graphic art; it is not a photographic image of what was present in the real world? I'd suggest that without manipulation it still would convey what you say you were going for. The first thing I saw in this image was the HVAC units - with their graffiti - on the roof. And the first thing I thought was that this was an interesting view from above of a slice of the world the folks on the street never see when they look at the garish theater marquee.
