My Peanut Lover

When I first started managing a small motel here in Daytona Beach, I got this squirrel to climb up my leg to get peanuts. She's since passed, but her daughter carries on today, bringing smiles to the tenants' faces.

I'm with you, Dan. Lots of great photographers here to learn from. I like your squirrel! My parents used to have a window over their kitchen sink that could be opened, and their own squirrel who would climb almost through the window for a peanut. Best, Pam

Uh..Oh... Don't let Harry see this pic of the tree rat. He might send you to the penalty box for a 5 minute major . Lot of bird people are not big fans of the "tree rats". They steal all the bird feed.

Yes, I have seen them go to great lengths to get free food, but I feed them all equally. I throw out black oil sunflower seeds and whoever is in the neighborhood gets to eat. I like watching the birds, but the squirrels make me laugh. And . . . as far as competition for food goes, I've seen a lot of bird-on-bird aggression. lol

A tip for keeping squirrels out of your bird seed - sprinkle cayenne pepper on it. Squirrels hate it but it doesn't bother the birds.

The mother used to, and the daughter does, come into my room to get their own if I don't get a peanut fast enough. I give the little kids here a peanut and show them how to feed her. They get a big kick out of it.

Laughing.gif - Don't worry, they love corn as much as peanuts.

Great squirrel shots folks. Glad to know I'm not the only one who likes 'em.

Fun thread! I was sitting outside Sunday trying to get bird pics at the feeder as it was snowing. This little guy wouldn't come down as he didn't trust me and was just waiting on me to leave so he could get to the feed.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
