Hi everybody.
Can anybody give me there comments on the 50 mm f1.4 lenses available from Nikon ?
I have a D90 and I´m looking for a 50 mm f1.4 lens, and can´t decide on the f1.4G, f1.4D or the f1.4 "non-D".
Best regards,
Ólafur

I've owned the non-D version, and rented / tested the AFD version and AFS version. I've also shot a lot with the new Sigma 50 1.4, which I really like too.
If you shoot most of your images on other lenses and are just getting a 50 for those few low light situations, then I bet the 50 AF or AFD would work great and you could save your money for gas and lunch on a nice photo adventure. ;-) If however you shoot a LOT of low-light, or shallow depth portraits etc, then you'll probably want to pony up and get the best. The Sigma and Nikon 50's both have great resolution and build quality. They're also both reported to be bit sluggish compared to the older versions, HOWEVER they're super-accurate, even in dim light, and many photographers are super excited to have them.

What difference did you experience between the AF and AFD version ?
So if my budget can handle it, the AFS would be best for me, right ?
Here in Iceland, it is very dark over the winter time. Therefore I would use the lens very much over the winter time

The Sigma fares very well in all those tests.
