Liz, I believe you're getting better and better in this kind of photography. Keep it up! thumb.gifthumbthumb.gif

I love this Liz. The left side composition mixed with the other elements on the right and center works well. Even the heavy, dragging bag is emotive. I really like this.

In addition to Damon's insightful comments, what I like is that the man approaching him looks like a mirror reflection of a younger version of him, a lighter step, less burden.

Looks like you are getting more comfortable with the new equipment. Exposure/processing are excellent. Composition is lacking something for me -- probably a face...

    Thanks Jiro--
I'm in a bit of a slump, trying to shoot my way out of it.

I didn't touch it in PP other than conversion to b&w. I was happy I nailed the comp on my own.

I loved how he looked with his cane and the heavy bag in the opposite hand.

    Thank you.

    Hi Patti.
I did not see that shooting the photo that's for sure but I liked it once I downloaded it. I'm just glad I have a shallow DOF so he didn't take over the shot.

    Thanks Patti.

    Hey Rainbow.
I saw the gentleman coming at me and got about 3 shots (i liked the look of him from the moment I spotted him--so resilient, that's the vibe I got) but I was shooting into the sun and it didn't work. I quickly chimped as he walked by, realized I didn't get what I wanted and watched him walk away, but I still got that same vibe from the back so I went for it.

I wish he had been walking towards me from the shade! Then you would have seen his wonderful face.

    Nice shot.
I like the composition and that you included the elements he encounters in his environment as he is out on his shopping trip.

This is more like it, Liz! Very nicely done. Strong composition, nice use of light and shadow. And you nailed it in terms of timing with the foreground figure stepping onto that horizontal shadow. clap.gifclap

Nice Liz. I can tell from this photo that you took some time composing it. It's well framed and balanced. As Mike mentioned, you included other elements in his environment which adds to the overall composition. Really nice. One of the better shots I've seen posted here.

Thanks B.D.--Wish I could say the "stepping into the shadow" was intentional, that was luck.
But I was very happy with the shot--thank goodness, I was starting to worry about 2011 :D.

    Thanks Cuban.
I did--my first few shots failed and I felt like I had one or two more shots to recompose and get it, so I'm glad I did. Otherwise it would be relegated to that spot in my brain for "almost or failed shots".
